THe history and role of slides today
Slides, or reversal films, occupy a unique place in the history of photography. Unlike negative films, they produce positive images ready for viewing without color inversion. With their intense colors and fine grain, slides have been highly prized for the quality of their rendering.
The development process for slide film (E6) is a complex one, carried out in specialized laboratories such as Nation Photo. But this medium is facing a new challenge: the end of slide covers production, essential for protecting and handling slides. Nation Photo will soon no longer be able to offer them, marking the end of an era for slide lovers.
If you'd like to try your hand at slide film, we recommend Kodak E100 color film, available in several formats (135, 120, 4x5 and 8x10), or Adox Scala 50 black & white film, available only in 135 format. We also recommend the Rollei Superpan 200 (135, 120), which is a black & white film, but not a slide film. However, it can be developed in reversal.
Slides retain a special aura, reminiscent of a time when every shot demanded patience and precision, offering enthusiasts an authentic journey into the art of silver photography.
